At the Groton Publick House Pub & Eatery, we are passionate about creating delicious, high-quality meals using fresh ingredients sourced from local farmers. Chef Chris created Smoke Show BBQ during Covid to bring the party to you! We are thrilled to announce that we have added a food truck to assist in the growth of our corporate and private off-site catering. Smoke Show BBQ is essentially the BBQ experience portion of our catering services. Click the link below to learn more about our corporate and private event services. We offer a wide variety of dishes to suit all tastes. From weddings to showers to graduations, birthdays, corporate, and almost any other event you can name, we will customize our menus to fit your event and budget. Please contact us to learn more.
A graduate of the prestigious New England Culinary Institute, Chef Frothingham has years of experience and has worked at some of the country’s finest dining destinations.
He began his thriving career as a line cook under the highly respected Frank McClelland at Boston’s Sel de la Terre. A long-time admirer of the renowned chef, Todd English, Frothingham embraced the opportunity that would set off his career when English opened Bonfire at the Park Plaza Hotel. Impressing English from the beginning with his culinary talent, Frothingham worked his way up the ranks within the Todd English Empire. For eight years, he worked as Executive Chef at Bonfire, Kingfish Hall and Fish Club in Seattle, Washington. Moving Back to the East Coast, Chef Chris helped open Vinebrook Taven, in Lexington MA. Next he opened Great Road Kitchen in Littletton. During this time Chef Chris partnered with Jeff Garibotto to open the Groton Publick House. After almost 30 years in the kitchen Chef Chris has narrowed his focus to the Publick House, and its off-site catering, Groton Publick House on the Road, featuring Smoke Show BBQ.
Smoke Show BBQ will make your backyard BBQ wedding or party dreams come true. We bring our smoker trailer to you to serve up only the best BBQ and custom menu creations. We are able to accommodate 20-200 guests for your special occasion. We have two options below. The show & the Basic Package.

CLASSIC BBQ BUFFET
(1) 9”x11” foil pan feeds 12-14 people
Greens: Locally grown hydroponic greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, carrots Choice of balsamic vinaigrette, lemon thyme vinaigrette, or buttermilk ranch $30

Smoked & Pulled Pork: a Smoke Show Legend! Pork butts are rubbed with chipotle peppers, brown sugar, salt, and herbs and left to sit overnight. Then the butts are smoked until the meat is succulent and falls apart $85
Smoked Beef Brisket: rubbed with salt and pepper, and smoked for about 14 hours. The brisket is chopped and tossed with SSBBQ sauce $100
St. Louis Ribs: Dry rubbed and smoked until tender. Served with your choice of SSBBQ sauce, spicy vinegar mop sauce, or with sticky toasted garlic chili sauce.

Our food truck is available for a variety of public and private events.
For events, we have a minimum spend of $1800 Monday through Thursday, and a minimum of $2400 Friday through Sunday. Holidays may affect the pricing.
Traveling over 30 minutes will incur a travel fee.
The price includes the truck on site for a maximum of three hours. We do not include servers for these events, the food is either self-serve from the truck or we will set up a simple buffet for your guests, we will supply appropriate utensils for the event.
Tax, & gratuity are extra.

Burgers are sold by the dozen; burgers are 4 ounces of Allen Brothers beef unless otherwise specified. Impossible burgers may be substituted for an upcharge.
